Position Overview
The Workers' Compensation Claims Representative will be responsible for handling loss time claims across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on New York. This role involves managing complex claims, working with legal teams, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process loss time workers' compensation claims to determine compensability and coverage
- Negotiate settlements under management’s guidance
- Gather medical and factual evidence to support claim decisions
- Coordinate external investigations and direct field activities
- Manage litigation and work closely with outside counsel
- Communicate effectively with claimants, attorneys, insureds, medical providers, and other stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with company policies and state-specific regulations
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in New York loss time workers’ compensation claims (litigated claims experience required)
- Knowledge of NY Employer’s Liability claims is a plus
- Ability to manage claims across multiple states
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrates a positive and team-oriented attitude
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Active NY adjuster license is a plus
Work Environment:
This is a hybrid role requiring in-office work 3 days per week. Occasional travel may be required.
